Can I return this?

A woman was directed to my register yesterday with a return. I looked at the item she had (some sort of practical joke "therapy flashcards" so you can "sound like a therapist without all the school.")
"I'm so sorry, ma'am, but this isn't something we carry in this store."
Customer: "I'm sure it came from here. He gave me a gift card to your store as well."
Me: Well, I've been in this store for 8 years, and I've never seen anything like this in here. But just to be sure, let me check the computer.

Now, I work in a bookstore. Most things have ISBNs, even the nonbook items. Sometimes, though we do have to use a UPC code. I tried the UPC code and several variations of keyword searches. No luck.

Me: "Ma'am, this isn't something we carry here. I've tried several different types of searches, and the computer isn't finding anything either."
Customer: "Well, do you ever sell something that's not in your computer?"
Me: "Uhm, no."

I STILL had to get a manager involved because she INSISTED that I take the damned thing back. Sheesh.

New year, new you

Looks like I might be starting the new year with x-rays.

A couple of days ago I feel down 4 steps while carrying my friend's 6 month old baby. The baby is, thankfully, fine. A slight bruise where my chin hit her cheek as I was trying to hold on to her, and even that was not a bad one. I sprained my ankle. Well, I THINK it's just a sprain. I didn't think it was broken because it's not swelling at all, but I can't rotate my foot in any direction without horrible pain. I'm keeping it wrapped with an Ace for now, but if I go through another few days and still can't rotate my foot, I guess it'll be doc time. *sigh*

Ah well. Happy new year!

Introducing...

Hey folks.
Just a quick intro for me.
I'm a 33 yr old wife to a wonderful husband and mother to a fabulous 4 1/2 year old princess. Originally from West Virginia, I moved to Greensboro in 1991 to attend Guilford College and just never left. I have a degree in English and Psychology and currently work in a bookstore.
I can be rather outspoken and I do have my own opinions, so if you're easily offended this probably isn't the blog for you.

I'm on my way to work as we speak, so that's all I have time for at the moment. I'm sure you'll hear from me later. ;)
